day 1 and prior to Arrival in tokyo.

saturday evening.
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.usthe plane ride was uneventful apart from hvaing to wake fat sleeping spanish man from his seat and unknown japanese man in the aisle.
most of the time when they get up from their seats, that was the best time to go to the washroom. that way i only had to say sumimasen once.
alas..., the movies shown on the plane was those i've watched b4 i got on the plane.
such as pirates of the caribbean, at world's end. fantastic 4 the rise of the silver surfer, spiderman 3, T_T....
mr. brooks. and some other japanese show.
as it was a 7 pm night flight, i thought it would have been easy for me to get some rest an sleep after one movie.
after watching say hello for me. ( japanese movie about love and childhood and growing up). and the only beer on this trip i drank was on this flight. asahi dry beer. smells like wheat. couldn't finish it. :P
tried to sleep couldn't sleep. but long story short. arrived in tokyo narita airport 12 hours later.

the line in the immigration was alright. they didnt ask me much questions or rather i didnt remembre anything remotely awkward when going through the line.
but upon taking my luggage from the conveyor belt, the officer stopped me and searched my bag. asking me where i came from and what i was doing there.
anyways, after a few mins, i was allowed to go.
first thing i did was to go find the toilet. T_T.
it had new driers. and ultraviolet light to do some stuffs. it was cool.
then bought my first drink from a vending machine that costs about 150yen. as i didnt have any coins, i used my 1000yen note.
mwahahhaa. Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.usthen i went to get my suica card for 3500 yen and changed my 7 days JR exchange order for a postdated pass for 17 sept 2007.
then i went down the tracks to wait for the NEX. ( narita express)
what hit me was the humidity and the heat... T_T. ( i'll have to find a cooler day to come to tokyo next time)
i was not really sweating profusely but i was very uncomfortable. :D
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us* pictured here is the tracks for the NEX, got on the train to tokyo station. then from there switched to the yamanote line to reach ueno.
(for the record, i think that was the only time i went to the tokyo station. i never went back there after that)
from ueno, i tried to find the directions to the oak hotel.
first mistake. i should haev read the instructions on how to get to the hotel first b4 i started walking.
( i ended up walking here and there and got lost for about 45 mins b4 i swallowed my manly pride and asked for directions.)
partly because i couldn't really speak japanese or wasn't used to speaking it yet.
so then finally i found it after 3 kind souls helped me locate the building where the hotel was at.
the lady was walking the dog. anyways, apart from that, there was SOOOO many ppl.
and so many of them who rode bicycles in ueno were really pretty . lol
checked in. paid the remaining sum of the money. ( i booked with hostelbookers because it was cheaper from there.)
they had their own website. but a little more expensive. ( booking engine was provided by hostelbookers i think)

hotel was a typical hotel. pretty nice for it's facilities. has a small kitchen, laundry, 3 computers a smoking area 3 vending machines, 2 vending machines for pay-tv where u can buy a card for 1000yen and watch AV for 24 hours. lol.
got to my room. oh had to pay 1000yen as a deposit for my keycard.
then showered changed. and walked out to the nearest 7-11 to get something to eat.
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.usbought some food. and some drinks again. went back to the hotel to rest. to get ready for the next day. :D
photos attached are sorta self explanatory i guess.

finally some photos of the hotel room in oak hotel, tokyo, japan. :D
it was not as small as i thought it would have been. nonetheless it was alright for about £25 a nite. and they had this buy 7 nites free 1 nite. :D

living on a budget

£4 per weekday and £10 for groceries for the week. that's it's gonna be till sept. hopefully.. until i start to try shopping again .. -_- so far for the last few days has been okays. spent like £8 for groceries for this week. some beef, some chicken wings( which i completely finished during the weekend) which included half a kg of fruit and nut cadbury. today was 2 for £2 sausage rolls from tescos. nothing else happened. my friend's father died of lung cancer. i wish them condolences. it was so sudden apparently. but i have had no contact with them since i left KL/miri. i heard it from another friend who was in miri who msged me asking me about my blood pressure as he said he was scared now. i asked. scared of dying ? lol. anyways, it's best to be preventing than trying to cure it when it comes.. so i really have to switch back to no salt diet.. T_T kk that's it. season 6 of 24 was like erm... okays... it was basically a repeat of the plots.. hope that's the la...

of brussels sprouts and racial features.

brussel sprouts are in season i think. they are going for 1 pack for 52p. it used to be like 1/4 of the pack for £1. but now seems to be cheaper. oh yeah. it seems to be siu pak choi. but it just didnt opened. anyways, that nite i went to morrisons, to buy more food. but when i walked halfway i found out that i didnt bring my wallet.. ^$£"%$£^%$ but lucky i had coins in my pocket. all i had was 96p. how sad.. lol . i went to the store to look for nga choi. er.. whta they call them here.. i think some sort of beans.. they usually sell them for 45p. i wanted it cos i cooked chicken rice mah. but then they didnt have it. and they have mixed stir fried thingy which was £1.29. poor ole me didnt buy it cos i didnt have enough lol so i hunted for cheap stir fry vege, the sprouts looked like a cheaper alternative. well.. i bought it. cooked it ate it with chicken rice. next thing i knew.. i was down with a bloody cough. ugh.. lotsa phlegm. not sure how i got it.. but that aside, i've ...

Ultimate Burger. ( sorry no pics)

Tried something new for lunch the other day. namely ultimate burger. . it's a tad pricey when compared to the burgers i had in macdonalds or burger king. :P £7 per medium sized burger. i had just the minted lamb burger(£6.95), and some spicy onion rings.(£1.95) in the ultimate burger store in tottenham court road. it was not too bad. a pretty nice setting too. all u have to do is queue up order ur food, then get a number then u put it on the table. they have sort of a hanger for u to put ur numbers to. just like in those kind of chinese open air market in petaling jaya give u number then they come look for u.. but this one they come to look for u with ur food almost about 2 mins after u've sat down and they would ask u if u liked ur food. gripes about the food. lamb burger seems small.. but its' about the size of a chargrilled flame burger in burgerking. taste wise, very tender lamb meat with mint sauce. it's nice. :P the onion rings are a different matter though . for ...
