My review of Dubai Airport

well.. it's finally time. i managed to sleep till 8.15. but i did wake up at 530 b4 going back to sleep till that time. anyways, that aside. i'm glad i slept alot. tonite means i'll be able to stay awake till 12 or 1. lol.
right, i went back to msia using emirates with the pretense of i wanna go see dubai airport because of the hoo haa about it being one of the nicest airport around.
i want to say that it's good.. but then again...
here are some pictures of dubai airport. if they look good, it's because i shot the pictures nicely. it was one of the last few shots i took with the canon A60. :P

from the photos u can see layout of the airport is loooong.. just like a tunnel. the shops are located on the ground level and the food court on the second level. i'm not sure the palm trees are real. but i suspect they are false. actually they ARE false.
there were lots of ppl waiting for their connecting flights, koreans, japanese, other asian ppl that i couldnt recognize which part of the world they are from. some english dudes. some aussies. all waiting around. the announcement of the flights came in 2 form i think. one in arabic, the other in english.
i spent 7 hours there in the first time around london - kl stretch. left the plane on a huge bus. what struck me when i left the plane to get on the bus, was the humidity and the heat.. in the middle of the night.. omg.. journey from the bus to the terminal took about 15 mins. i think. can't remember. there were no clear signs on where i was supposed to go to catch my connecting flight. all i knew was to try and get to the duty free shops. lol. shopping. i walked i think a huge fricking round and goodness knew where i ended up. then i came to this security checkpoint that i had to pass b4 going to the departure halls.
there was this weird guard that was on the fone.. and didn't stop talking on the fone even though i was there.. so i did the usual security check. bla bla bla.. then i even had to take off my shoes.. but i was sure if i walked pass he wouldnt say anything cos that bugger was still on the fone even after i left. LOUSY security services in the airport. (maybe it was because i was alone and there were no other passengers behind me.)
then i finally got to the shops. here are the pictures of the shops.

regardless of how these pictures look, there are only 4 shops the size of this one. 2 for ciggies and liquor, the other for electronic goods + toys. another for bookshop i think. the middle of the so called mall was like those stalls that sells trinkets and some dates.
the prices were okays i guess. not much different than other airports. i saw a 2gb nano for about 1100++ dirham( conversion rate i think it's 0.97 RM to 1 dirham which makes it about 6.9 dirham to a pound)
coke was cheap though - 1 dirham. i bought my chanel allure sports for about 200 dirham. ( later i checked in klia was 213 RM . i bought it a little bit cheaper. that's all i got from there. the electronic shop had a ps2 on display with the little sign that says "try me". being the BORED malaysian that i am, i took the ps2 gamepad on my hand and started played GT3or wassit GT2.. can't remember. that shaved about 1 hour off my waiting time.
7 hours in an airport is bound to make me hungry. so i went to look for food on the second floor. take a look at the pics.

MacDonalds for 18 dirhams.. *choke* .. considering i changed only £35 for about 236 dirhams. i spent 200 dirham on my chanel. left with 36. bought some chocolates for friends. left with 6 dirham. bought a can of coke and a tin of pringles. finito.. ate the whole can of pringles .. mouth was damn salty and i was damn thirsty after that. lucky go up the plane got lotsa water to drink.
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.usthe money i changed. the denominations are like the american currency. they have quarters instead of 20 cents. sigh.. i hate calculating in 5s.
anywyas, the second time i came to this airport, which was kl - london leg. i just took a spot somewhere where other ppl were sitting around. and wasted 2 hours waiting for the plane. didnt want to shop anymore.. there wasn't anything i wanted to buy and sides, i didnt have any more dirham and didnt want to change my currency. ( i didnt have any currency except 100RM ) :P
oh yeah.. there was lotsa thos golf buggys that they drive around the airport carrying goodness knows who.. i wondered how could i get them to drive me around.. but i didnt make it. might have not been important enough..
beep beep. they come behind u and expect u to move. sigh.. such is dubai airport. lets hope the new terminal opens soon.
yeah this was the old terminal. the new terminal is suppsed to be much bigger and much grander.
grander ? i ask myself. .. i think mines wonderland has more shops with more variety than this airport.. sien..
recommendation: naw.. wouldnt wanna go to this airport for 7 hours anymore.. ( i IS mad to think i could shop for 7 hours.... )
oh note: this trip was taken in may 12 KL dubai london. and returning was June 11 KL - dubai - London.

Mr. Kipling's Battenberg Cake. looks nice..

hmmm been so busy on friday forgot to update. will post 2 post to console myself today. to the cake. cake looks cute. but tastes horrible. maybe it was because i bought it cheap from sainsbury . it's original price was £1.29. but i bought it for 49p. cheap as i was. maybe that's the reason the cake tasted bad.. but the expiry wasnt till anohter 2 days time. :P anyways, it tasted like smelled like cough syrup. u know those red coloured ones. tasted okays. the outer layer is just icing erm or rather sugar.. no ideas waht that was but it was SWEET. then inside, just like the normal sponge cake. all in all.. i wouldnt buy it ever again. :P here are the pics.

my boring weekend

i went to camden on sat and almost got rammed by a stupid green car on the way back. anyways, i was bored. and it was a nice day. don't know anything bout tour de france, or wimbledon. took my bike out. and cycled down towards camden. it was a change from cycling to work. i spent £7 in sainsburys cos they were having a half price sale on john west's tuna in cans. the usual price is about £3.19. bought some stuffs.. ( coulnd't buy a lot cos i don't wanna ride home on a punctured bike) but i bought too many as well. i bought jaffa biscuit for 69p. for 24 pieces. finished it b4 sat was over. took some photos on the way. went into o2 to see if i could get any nice phones for free. turned out that i couldn't because i havent paid any phone bills since last year. looks like i'm gonna hvae to switch my sim card to a pay as you go thingy. then i went to the outdoor emporium to take a look at the karrimor travelpack. i dunno why .. that one seems to call out to me other
