My Requirements.
1. BEGINNER Snowboarding/Ski - doesn't really matter just as long as i get to stay in the snow filled place for 7 days.
*all i wanted was a log cabin with a jacuzzi and hot chocolate and a nice lamb chop and a good book sitting by a fireplace.
lol.
2. CHEAP AND CHIC. ( stealing a line from moschino's ) i want it to be nice. and cheap ( less than £450 if possible)
but by the looks of my research, it doesn't really seem possible. T_T
austria's kaprun where the kitzsteinhorn is. int he region of salzburg. not that i am able to ski/snowboard that well to get up to the top. but it would be good for a photographing opportunity.
3. 7 days. ( a week of holiday) meaning i'm gonna spend 5 of my 8 days holidays. ( now i wonder if the minimum holidays is gonna go up for all ppl from 20 days to 24 then to 28 next year.. *sigh*)
4. BEFORE 22 December. ( apparently this is the low season) ( so everything should be still priced at low season's price)
Results.
3-5 days lessons @ an average of 114 euros(2 hrs lessons/3 days) to 147 euros(4 hr lessons/5 days)
which does not include the cost of equipment hire.
there's another package offered by one school for 5 day's lessons, + lift pass ( which i doubt i am gonna use if i am afraid of heights.)
and equipment rental. which costs a total of 383 euros.
airline tix: BA flies from heathrow at £110 + £8 for tube fare to the airport.
Ryanair does £38 + £23.50 (tickt station = 25.50) for stansted express then £10 for luggage. + £5 tube to get to liverpool street.
Ski pass 5/6 days = 145/165.50 ( this is for winter start season)
Accommodation: T_T.. now i don't even wanna start. this is where it gets bad.
some i see from 43euros to 59 euros. ( this includes breakfast. haven't seen one that includes dinner, AND this is per person per night.)
so as i can see a single person's room will definitely be more expensive.
so i'll take 50 euros X 7 nights = 350 euros, on average okies.. that's for a 3 star hotel.(i think this range includes the bed and breakfasts) or somewhat.
a cheaper alternative would be the mountain inns/youth hostels. which is about 25 euros - 35 euros .
35 X 7 = 245 euros
EQ Rental + ski pass
262euros. ( after a few deduction on from the actual ski pass price. i deduce the rental for snowboard boots and board is about 100++ euros)
okies. that sorted out.
time to total them up.
cheap option
Flight: £76.50( ryanair)
accommodation: 245euros = 245*0.6957 = £170++
EQ + PASS + Lessons = 383euros * 06957 = £266++
Misc ( transfers) = £50
total = £562
expensive option = 562 + hotel increase by 100 euros and flight £30 = £662++.
that list does not include the ski jacket, trousers, gloves, goggles. etc..
T_T...
i've seen a few holidays which amounts to the same price as well.. maybe it might be cheaper or something.
a few website i used to gather these numbers
transport
British Airways
Ryanair
Stansted Express
blogs
Snowboarding Rants
Ryan Hunt (not sure if this is his name or something. but i just split it from the url.)
other sites
Austria Info
Austria Salzburgerland
Kitzsteinhorn Website the place where i found the accommodation prices and the lessons prices etc..
Europa Sport Region more accommodation prices.
arg.... maybe i should skip all this planning and just pay for the holiday created by tour operators. geez.
*mental note: they are so much more expensive.. reaching up to £800. that's more than an airfare back to Malaysia.
done.
