I was down in Rochester Kent for a dickensian festival as my aunt and uncle brought me there for a visit.
here are some of the pictures.
Rochester Day Out Dickensian. typical dickensian times family outing. they were just standing around letting us take pictures. hmmm
This next photo is of a storyteller telling some stories about something.. i'm not sure.. i wasn't paying attention. hehe. it was quite sunny for a bit then it suddenly turned cold. food was cheap i guess. 2 quid for a double bacon roll. it was my first time having a bacon roll. but then it was just a simple 2 strips of bacon sandwiched by a bun. a sausage bun. didnt have any pictures of it. just ate it. :P
then there's this hotel where it cost only 4p a nite. read the rest for urself.
then at 12 sharp the parade started. this are only the few photos that i took. Bah humbugs Scrooge was one of them. There was these funny dances by men in pyjamas i think. never seen them b4. can't recall much of the book christmas carol.
After the parade it started to rain. we were lucky that we managed to see the end of the parade b4 it started pouring cats and dogs. then we took a shortcut through the cathedral.
then i visited the crypt,
tasted a little bit of mulled wine. ( some red wine with spices in them)
ate mince pie. ( FYI: i found out mince pie had no meat in them. )
then came out the other way to see the castle beside the cathedral. which was apparently the front of the cathedral.
oh yes. it was only for 2 days. i went for the dec 3rd.
to get there all we needed was the south eastern trains SE Trains from our station to rochester. you could get it from victoria train station as well.
basically that's (the festival+ area + food) totally english area. hehe. nice place. i could count the number of asians during that day with my fingers. or rather i couldnt see many asians. it was great fun. the paraders were really friendly as well.
cheers for the rochester dickensian festival. :P
